"For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived ever since the creation of the world in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse"
The creation of the Universe, the amazing design of the Genome, the Human species as a unique created being, the orderliness of physical laws that govern our universe. All these and so much more are the signatures and handiwork of a Creator God.
God is not a marble sculpture made with hands, or one that is created through Man's imagination. He is an unseen and yet living God with whom we can have a close personal relationship with. Christians through the ages and around the world can testify in one voice, how wonderfully God has worked in their lives, the comfort He bestows in their time of need and all the little miracles and blessings they experience that makes life so meaningful and worth living. Knowing God is a life-changing experience and those who are truly born again christians know it.
Perhaps you are asking " Is there really a personal God who loves and cares for me and how can I know Him in a personal way?"

Before I explain how one can know God, we have to understand how Man first became separated from God.
In the beginning, Man was created to have a close fellowship with God. But because of his willful act of disobedience, God placed a great divide between Himself and humankind.
This great divide separates sinful Man from the Creator God. We are all sinners before God and without a way to bridge this divide, we will be eternally separated from Him forever.

But God loved us and had a plan to reconcile mankind to Himself. That great plan which spanned thousands of years was completed when He sent his only begotten and beloved son, Jesus Christ to walk among us.
And during that brief period of history as recorded in the Biblical writings, Jesus healed the sick, made the lame to walk, the blind see and the dead to live again.

As a final sacrifice for all of mankind's sin, past present and future, Jesus died on the cross in our place and was resurrected to life on the third day. That single act of sacrifice, the conclusion of the great plan, provided us the way back to God.
Through Jesus Christ, we now have a way back to God, to know God personally and to live a meaningful and abundant life.

Jesus tells us "I am the way, the truth and the life; no one can come to the Father except through me". He says, "Come to me. If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water" and also "I came that you might have life, and have it more abundantly"

Irregardless of who you are, what you have done, what you are now or what has happened in the past, nobody will be denied salvation and the opportunity to be reconciled to God.
You only need to believe that Jesus Christ came and died for your sins and by faith, accept Him as your Lord and Saviour, repent of your sins and invite him into your life. Salvation is by faith and by grace and not by works. We can't earn salvation by our works.
"Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new."
Jesus said "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in" .
To do this, you only need to believe in Him, speak to Him in your heart and invite Him in.

The exact words are not as important. It is sincerity and faith that matters and it can go something like this...
Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross so that my sins can be forgiven. I believe that you are the Son of God and accept you as my Lord and Saviour and that all my sins have been washed away forever. I believe that through you and your sacrifice on the cross, I can have eternal life with God the Father. I open the doors of my heart, discard the sinful nature in me and turn my life over to you. Fill me with the Holy Spirit so that I can start knowing God better day by day and help me become the person you want me to be. Amen.
